For 37 years, the Alaska Wholesale Gift Show has been THE shopping tradeshow of the Alaska Gift Industry. Our attendees travel from stores across Alaska and our exhibitors are local, national and international businesses. The pandemic of 2020 has been detrimental to businesses throughout Alaska, with the Gift Industry hit particularly hard.

With due regards to the safety of our exhibitors and attendees, Alaska Genesis Productions has cancelled the 2021 Alaska Wholesale Gift Show, scheduled for January 7-9 at the Dena’ina Convention Center, in Anchorage, Alaska, due to the concerns of the global coronavirus outbreak, travel difficulties and Municipal restrictions, which make it all but impossible to hold this event.

We know that this will come as an enormous disappointment not only to the exhibitors, buyers and industry professionals who attend the show but also our production staff, venue and service staff, sponsors, decorators, hotels and all the other companies that help make this event happen. We are working through the ramifications of this unprecedented situation and understand the gravity of this decision for all the hundreds of small businesses that participate in this annual in-person event.

We are devastated to share this news with you. “The show must go on” is in our DNA and this is the first time in 37 years that this annual event will not take place. Although the in-person event is cancelled, we’re planning other ways for our community to get together through an online marketplace event with videos and streamed content.

Stay safe, think positive and we’ll get through this together.

Sincerely,

Peggy Anderson
